'CREATE SOMETHING NEW' THROUGH ENTREPRENEURSHIP TO REMAIN RELEVANT
USM, PENANG, 15 January 2017 - Teaching and learning activities need to change to remain relevant and students should be able to reach a certain level in their learning achievements to create something new from the knowledge gained.
This was mentioned by the Minister of Higher Education, Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh during an unofficial visit to Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) today.
Idris said, the knowledge acquired by students is from the tutelage of academicians, and in aspects of Entrepreneurship, they should 'create something new' in view of the currently challenging world.
"A way towards change is by bringing in more industry practitioners to the university, which could lead to an increase in graduate employability because the practitioners would bring in knowledge on what is needed by the industry," he added.
Also present at the occasion were USM Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Datuk Mustafa Mansur; USM Chairman, Board of Governors, Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Zulkefli A. Hassan; USM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail; USM Deputy Vice-Chancellors; the USM top management and students.
