USM HEALTH CAMPUS WELCOMES SEYCHELLES DELEGATION
KUBANG KERIAN, 2 December, 2016 – The Health Campus of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) continues to welcome international visitors, with an official courtesy call from the delegates of Seychelles Islands being the latest.
The 4-man delegation was led by the Agency for National Human Resources Development (ANHRD) Chief Executive Officer, Terence Gavin Francoise and was extended a warm welcome by the Director of USM Health Campus, Professor Dr. Ahmad Sukari Halim.
In his opening remarks, Sukari welcomed the visit from the Seychelles Islands, and shared briefly on the background and achievements of USM as one of the Research Universities in the country, and also its status as the APEX university.
“I really hope that both sides would capitalise on this opportunity to explore various possible avenues, to establish a two-way cooperation in student exchange and in academic programmes especially those relating to the medical field," explained Sukari.
Sukari added that both parties would also need to identify specific academic fields and available expertise which could be shared and developed, and to be established into a reputable partnership within the region.
Meanwhile, Terence Gavin Francoise said that, there are various possibilities of working together with USM, especially in the medical field and he hoped that this visit would be a starting point towards establishing stronger ties in cooperation.
Following the discussion, the delegation was given a tour of Hospital USM for a closer look at the available medical facilities and expertise, and later went on a tour of the campus grounds.
Also present were the USM School of Medical Sciences Dean, Professor Dr. Shaiful Bahri Ismail; School of Dental Sciences Dean, Professor Dr. Adam Hussein; department representatives and principal officers of the university.
