“He has contributed in numerous ways to JPJ especially in outlining our enforcement transformation plan, also in the launching and implementation of the initial plan for the new Malaysian Driving Curriculum and in structuring the internal KPI for JPJ in order to be in line with the vision, mission and functions of JPJ in fulfilling the requirements of the Road Transport Act especially for the purpose of road safety,” said Ismail.

Ahmad Farhan expressed his gratitude to Allah and thanked the JPJ for bestowing him the award.

“I am very honoured to receive this recognition and will continue the mission for universal road safety measures to benefit us all as road users,” said Ahmad Farhan, who was seconded to MIROS as its Director-General from 1 August 2008 to 31 July 2011.

“I urge everyone to always observe the highest road safety standards so that we can change our poor record of road safety in Malaysia where 18 to 19 deaths due to road accidents are recorded daily.

“Let us begin with ourselves; in this respect we need to remind our family members especially the younger ones to refrain from driving or riding a motorcycle without a valid license and to ensure that we all use safety helmets and seat belts,” said Ahmad Farhan who holds a PhD in Transport Studies from the University of London. – Translation: Mazlan Hanafi Basharudin/Text: Nor Rafizah Md.
