USM TO PURSUE FURTHER COLLABORATIONS WITH CSCSE THROUGH EXCHANGE PROGRAMME
USM, PENANG, 22 November 2016 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) today received an official courtesy visit from the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE).
According to the USM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail, USM is looking forward towards having further collaborations with CSCSE through exchange programmes and other related activities.
"USM is a university that provides opportunities for research collaboration, utilising the concept of 'hi-tech, hi-touch' and focusing on advances in technology in assisting others," she said.
The CSCSE delegation was headed by its Deputy Director-General, Che Wei Min, along with Zhao Tie Jun, Shen Ping Ping and Helen Liu Rong.
According to Che, CSCSE hopes to strengthen cooperation with USM through specific international collaborations such as the exchange and mobility programmes.
"Generally, Malaysia and China have already established a good relationship in many areas, including in education. Even from previous years, more than half a million Chinese students have studied overseas," he said.
CSCSE is a public organisation under the Ministry of Education (MOE) of the People’s Republic of China and mainly engages in international educational services, and supporting students who are pursuing international exchanges and cooperation.
Currently, there are 6 postgraduate and 57 undergraduate students from China pursuing their studies at USM.
Also present at the meeting were the USM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) Professor Dato' Dr. Ahmad Shukri Mustapa Kamal; USM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Network) Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed; USM Assistant Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Wan Ahmad Kamil Che Mahmood; USM Bursar Dr. Rohayati Mohd Isa; Director of USM Centre for Business Development, Professor Datuk Dr. Abdul Khalil H.P Shawkataly; Dean, USM School of Management, Professor Dr. Fauziah Md Taib; Dean, USM School of Languages, Literacies and Translation Professor Dr. Tengku Sepora Tengku Mahadi; and Director of USM International Collaborations Office Professor Dr. Lee Keat Teong.
