11th INTERNATIONAL WEEK PROMOTING UNIQUE AND DIVERSE INTERNATIONAL CULTURES
USM, PENANG, 22 November 2016 – The 11th International Week, to be held at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) this year, will be promoting diverse and unique cultures from different countries to the USM community.
According to the Deputy Dean, Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS) USM, Professor Dr. Azman Samsudin, this international week is an annual event in the calendar of activities by international students at USM, in promoting the cultures from the respective countries.
"Being a global community, this programme is important in portraying the national identities and promoting the culture, pastime activities and food from the countries involved, and it is hoped that all these could enhance the understanding, harmony and sense of unity among the members from those countries," he said when officiating the 11th International Week here today.
The highlight of the 11th International Week this time around would be the Gala Night, to be held on Thursday, 24 November 2016 at the Dewan Tuanku Syed Putra (DTSP), which would feature cultural performances from about 20 countries. Among them would be Malaysia, Thailand, Denmark, Iraq, India, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and also a special Kung Fu performance by the participants.
Also present at the officiating ceremony was the Advisor of the USM Postgraduate Student Association (PSA), Associate Professor Dr. Anees Janee Ali@Hamid.
