USM VC - OFFICIAL EDUCATION VISIT TO INDIA
PENANG, 15 November 2016 - The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Vice-Chancellor (VC), Professor Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail will be going to India for an official education visit to strengthen the collaboration and networking exercise among institutions there.
The main visit however would be to the USM offshore campus in Belgaum, India which is the Karnataka-Lingayat Education (KLE) USM campus which offers the USM International Medical Programme and Asma will give a talk on the "Introduction to Malaysian Higher Education and Universiti Sains Malaysia" there on 17th November 2016.
After the appointment as the new USM VC on 4th October 2016, this would be the first time that Asma is going on an official international visit to the USM-KLE campus.
She will also be giving a lecture to the local Indian students and teachers and will be the guest of honour for the Centenary Celebration of Karnataka-Lingayat Education Society Belagavi and will speak on "Overseas Opportunities for Higher Education" on 18th November 2016 at Lingaraj College Grounds, Belagavi.
Meanwhile, to further strengthen the ties and relationship between both institutions, she will meet with the KLE Chancellor, Dr. Prabhakar B. Kore who is also the Chairman of USM-KLE.
Following this, Asma will be officiating the 1st International CME on Research Methodology and Communication Programme and would later visit the USM-KLE facilities and meet the teachers.
In addition to the programme, there will be a meeting between Asma and the students at the USM-KLE campus and later a ceremony to hand over the certificates of appointment (‘watikah’) to the new student representative council members (MPP) at USM-KLE.
