APPRECIATE THE ROLE OF WOMEN, URGES PRO-CHANCELLOR
USM, PENANG, 28 October 2016 – The public is urged to appreciate and understand the dual role of women in juggling between their professional careers and their responsibility to the family.
Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Datuk Mustafa Mansur said that each of us has a mother and she is the closest example that clearly demonstrated the power of a woman.
“Look at our mother who had given birth to us. We see how strong and great is the love of a mother in raising and caring for us. We also witnessed their tears and sacrifices in ensuring their children would achieve successes in life.
“Sometimes their sacrifices go far beyond their difficulties and sufferings, some of them even single-handedly raised their children and ensured a better future for their children,” he said.
The Pro-Chancellor said this in his speech during the sixth session of USM 54th Convocation recently, in front of some 878 Science and Social Science graduates.
Mustafa expressed his dedication and admiration for women who are deemed to be great and noble, full of affection, love, greatly discerning and having perseverance in life.
In his speech, the Pro-Chancellor also congratulated the first female USM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail who was appointed as the seventh Vice-Chancellor effective from 4 October 2016.
