USM, KEELE UNIVERSITY SIGNS CO-OPERATION AGREEMENT, STRENGTHENS RELATIONSHIP
USM, PENANG, 9 September 2016 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) today signed a co-operation agreement with its strategic partner, Keele University, United Kingdom to further strengthen their long-standing relationship in areas of mutual interest and strength.
USM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Omar Osman said that, this agreement cements the partnership that the School of Biological Sciences (PPSKH) has established over the years as can be seen in the ongoing student attachment and exchange programme.
“We are delighted that Keele University has agreed to provide four full grants for PPSKH students - one postgraduate and three undergraduates - and two full grants for the academic staff which would cover the flight tickets, accommodations and personal allowance while they are attached at the University,” said Omar, who signed the agreement on behalf of USM.
Meanwhile, the Keele University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Trevor McMillan stated that they are very pleased to offer these grants - Erasmus Outbound Student and Staff Mobility Grant - that they have secured from the European Union to USM.
“I look forward to our new co-operation agreement that I believe would strengthen the existing good relationship both institutions enjoyed all this while,’ added McMillan.
Also present were USM School of Biological Sciences Dean, Prof. Dr. Amirul Al-Ashraf Abdullah; Keele University Dean of Internationalisation, Prof. Richard Luther; and USM School of Biological Sciences, Deputy Dean (Research, Postgraduate Studies & Networking), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yahya Mat Arip.
