USM, UMB ESTABLISHES COLLABORATIVE NETWORK IN COMMUNICATION
USM, PENANG, 9 September 2016 – A collaborative network has been established with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) in the field of Communication between Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Universitas Mercu Buana (UMB), Yogyakarta, Indonesia in a brief ceremony here held recently.
According to the Acting Dean, USM School of Communication (PPK), Professor Dato’ Dr. Adnan Hussein, the collaborative network established would encompass aspects of joint publications and research with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that is expected to be signed in the future for a more dedicated and specified form of collaboration.
“USM truly welcomed the intention of UMB in establishing relations and it is hoped that it would also benefit both parties,” added Adnan who is also the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students Development Affairs and Alumni).
The Dean of the Faculty of Science Communication and Multimedia, Dr. Heri Budianto, represented UMB and he was accompanied by a lecturer, Didik Haryadi Santoso.
“I hope that USM would be a good partner of UMB and I would forward the suggestion for the MoU to be signed either in October or November of this year, in conjunction with the conference to be held in Yogyakarta then,” said Heri.
Also present at the ceremony were the Deputy Dean (Academic, Students and Alumni), Dr. Nik Norma Nik Hassan and also Deputy Dean (Research, Graduates and Networking), Dr. Bahiyah Omar as well as Programme Chairperson, Dr. Nurzali Ismail.
Nik Norma also extended an invitation to UMB students and lecturers to take part in the annual programme of PPK, known as ‘IMPACT 2016’ which would be held on 8-9 December 2016.
