USM, PENANG, 10 August 2016 - His Royal Highness the Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Al-Marhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, has given his consent for USM to commence the 54th Convocation ceremony beginning Monday, 24 October 2016 until Thursday, 27 October 2016.

Details on the breakdown of the degrees conferred during each session would be announced at a later date.

The number of graduands has finally been confirmed after the University Examination Board met recently, with the total number of 6,330 graduands to be conferred their scrolls throughout 8 sessions. The total number would be validated by the University Senate by the end of the month.

It is a common practice for the date of the Convocation to be confirmed once the full statistics of those who would be graduating have been finalised, in order to utilise the Dewan Tuanku Syed Putra to its fullest capacity.

The date for the Convocation has been confirmed at the USM Convocation Steering Committee meeting held yesterday.
