USM WELCOMES COURTESY VISIT FROM THAILAND HIGHER EDUCATION PLANNING NETWORK
USM, PENANG, 13 May 2016 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) received a courtesy visit from a group comprising of 95 officials and academic staff from the Higher Education Planning Network Thailand recently.
The high-ranking officials and academic staff from 25 higher educational institutions in Thailand had gathered here to attend an information sharing session on the expertise available at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) towards raising the quality of education for both countries.
Speaking to the delegates in welcoming them, the Acting Vice-Chancellor who is also the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Professor Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Shukri Mustapa Kamal said that, the presence of the key officials from the respective institutions was indeed an honour for USM.
“I truly welcomed the visit by the delegate members to USM, and hoped that the sharing of university management policies in practice would greatly benefit both sides for the further development of education in Thailand and also in Malaysia as a whole,” he said.
Also present were the Director of Institutional Development Division (BPI), Professor Dr. Phua Kia Kien; Deputy Dean of Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS), Professor Dr. Azman Samsudin; Principal Assistant Treasurer, Bursary Department, Iza Rahayu Abd Rahim and Senior Deputy Registrar, Academic Management Division, Noriah Mohamad all of whom shared matters concerning their respective departments.
The Higher Education Planning Network Thailand meanwhile, was headed by Assistant Professor Dr. Wasan Kanchanamukda from Thaksin University.
