GSB PARTICIPATES IN COMMUNITY SERVICE AT TELUK BAHANG
USM, PENANG, 7 May 2016 - Approximately 50 Master of Business Administration (MBA) students along with the lecturers and staff of the Graduate School of Business (GSB) Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) participated in the community service programme ‘GSB@USM: Nurturing Business Sustainability’ at Teluk Bahang, Penang recently.
According to the Deputy Dean (Academic, Student and Alumni) of GSB, Dr. Salmi Mohd Isa, the community service programme at the Penang National Park in Teluk Bahang involved cleaning up the seaside areas around Monkey Beach and Teluk Ailing, installing signboards/signages on the promotion of 'go paperless' for information relating to the site, provision of specially-prepared 'anti-tampering’ dustbins and to repair and give facelifts to worn out amenities.
"This community service is aimed at promoting closer interactions between the students and the staff of GSB with the community and to care for the environment which would be conducted continually," said Salmi.
Jan Heitmann, 25, from Germany said that the community service activity provided him with a new and interesting experience.
"I would surely suggest this community service programme for my friends to participate in, in providing greater awareness to the community as well as to continually care for the surrounding environment," he said.
In addition, they also planted ‘Kelat Pucuk’ and ‘Bintago Laut’ trees along the pathway climbing up to Monkey Beach that will act as canopy trees.
