USM ALUMNI HAS SUSTAINABILITY CLOSE TO HER HEART
PENANG, 28 March 2016 – The concept of sustainability as instilled by Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) was one of the things that remained deep in the heart of the USM alumna, Siti Nursyahidah Abu Bakar, 29, from Ampang, Selangor.
Siti Nursyahidah, who now works at the Kumpulan Media Karangkraf in Shah Alam said that, when she was doing her studies seven years ago, USM introduced the concept of sustainability for students to better appreciate mother nature for the future of mankind.
“The emphasis given by USM on this concept truly made an impact in my heart. Up until now I am still limiting the use of plastics although I have left USM," explained Nursyahidah, a former student of the USM School of Communication.
She added that, USM has also provided a lot of education on this matter, which would be reflective on the good reputation of USM if such responsibilities could be carried out well and in high standards.
“My career as a journalist for the daily newspaper Sinar Harian started with what I had learnt at USM, and therefore I would ensure that I give my best in all that I do as I would be the bearer of the USM alumni name," said Siti Nursyahidah.
