ISDEV TO STUDY ON OFFERING EXPERTISE IN VIETNAM
USM, PENANG, 28 March 2016 - The Centre for Islamic Development Management Studies (ISDEV) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) would be conducting research work on ‘Leadership in Islamic Service Management’ in Vietnam beginning 28 May 2016.
Head Researcher for the study, Dr. Shahir Akram Hassan said that the research is conducted under the education marketing programme in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV), organised by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (KPT).
“The aim of the research is to facilitate the sharing of expertise and experiences from Malaysia to countries within the region as well as to other developing countries, in aspects of research, teaching and learning, community networking and student mobility, quality assurance and also in leadership.”
“USM is participating in the research under this programme in Vietnam for the first time and the focus would be on ‘leadership’, as the country has now become a shopping destination for tourists, especially at the city of Ho Chi Minh,” he said.
He also explained that the opportunity for research would always be provided to research teams to proceed to the next phase, which would also depend on the success of the research project that would be carried out in the CLMV countries in the future.
“There were problems that we faced in the beginning, as this would be our first experience in doing a research project with the CLMV countries. However, we are confident that there would be solutions when we arrive in Vietnam later,” he explained.
