SOM FAIR 2016: BRIDGING RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN USM STUDENTS AND THE COMMUNITY
USM, PENANG, March 2016 - The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) School of Management (SOM) Fair 2016 that was recently held at the USM Convocation site has become a platform to strengthen the relationship among USM students.
Delivering his speech in the annual programme, the USM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Network), Professor Dato' Dr. See Ching Mey said that, this event showcased the capability and the leadership skills of USM students in organising and managing such activities.
"I hope that the SOM Fair 2016 and SOM Megathon would be well-received by both the public and community of USM," said See Ching Mey.
She also added that, USM students should not only excel academically, but they should also be able to organise, strategise, plan and implement meaningful initiatives, in contributing to their overall development and training.
The Project Director of SOM Fair 2016, Ang Tau Ping said that the fair is an annual event held for their school. Among the activities that were carried out included traditional games, zumba, marching band, magic show, lucky draws and the SOM Megathon, a cross-campus fun run event.
“SOM Megathon was a new idea and it was added as the main activity in SOM Fair 2016. Megathon is opened to all USM students and also to the public, with the aim of strengthening and fostering friendship between USM students and the community,” explained Ang.
Also present at the opening ceremony was the USM School of Management Deputy Dean (Research, Postgraduate and Networking), Associate Professor Dr. Hooy Chee Wooi.
