USM, PENANG, 8 March 2016 – Professor Dr. Syed Azhar Syed Sulaiman, who lectures at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has been acknowledged for his expertise in the field of Clinical Pharmacy, in conjunction with the 50 Years Golden Jubilee celebration of the Pharmacy Faculty at the University of Khartoum in Sudan recently.

According to Syed Azhar, the acknowledgement was awarded to him during a conference involving world-renowned experts and professionals in the field.

"The universities that were extended invitations were the highly-ranked universities in the field of pharmacy globally such as the University of Bradford, University College of London, University of Jordan, and University of Kumamoto in Japan among others. These universities offer various range of expertise in the field of pharmacy," he said.

Syed Azhar was the sole representative from USM to be invited in the field of Clinical Pharmacy and to be given the honour of presenting the keynote address in the event, which saw the Sudanese Minister of Education officiating at the Hotel Corinthia Khartoum in Sudan.

Syed Azhar also received a certificate of "Permanent Membership Award” presented by the Vice-Chancellor of University of Khartoum, to acknowledge his expertise in the field of Clinical Pharmacy, as well as his role in leading various organisations at the international level. 

Explaining further, the award which was rarely accorded was awarded to those whom had contributed their service, effort and expertise in totality within a specialised area.

Prior to this, Syed Azhar had been invited by the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) based in Islamabad, Pakistan to share his expertise in a workshop, held with the concept of "train the trainer" which was attended by representatives from Muslim countries such as Turkey, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Nigeria, and Kuwait together with a few others.
