USM ORGANISES ASEAN-LEVEL CONVENTION ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP NETWORKING
PENANG, 6 January 2015 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) through its USM Student Representatives Council (MPPUSM) would be organising the ASEAN Students Entrepreneurship Network (ASENet) 2016 Convention, with the aim of cultivating the interest and enhancing the entrepreneurial spirit among the local and international students from ASEAN countries.
The convention, which also sees MPPUSM collaborating with the Student Entrepreneurship and Personal Development Centre, Division of Students Development Affairs and Alumni USM, will involve 20 institutions of higher education in Malaysia (IPTA) and 40 IPT from 13 ASEAN countries.
According to the Head of Department for Publicity of ASENet 2016, Malathi Sivagami, this programme also aims to promote the interest in entrepreneurship among the local and international students, especially those from the ASEAN countries as well as to provide exposure to the challenges and to offer guidelines on implementing entrepreneurial projects on an individual basis.
“ASENet also serves as a platform for entrepreneurial network involving students from the ASEAN universities with the sharing of entrepreneurship programmes, and it is hoped that this entrepreneurship activity would promote closer ties among the local and international students,” said Malathi.
“The students or participants would be able to equip themselves better with the latest knowledge on entrepreneurship, as well as in planning a project to measure their level of understanding in the various slots on entrepreneurship which have been prepared ahead,” added Malathi further.
ASENet 2016 is one of the many platforms which nurtures critical thinking skills of the participants and prepares them for various challenges in the future based on experiences gained from this programme.
ASENet 2016 would be held from 20 - 23 January 2016 at the Dewan Utama Pelajar (DUP), USM Main Campus with the participation of more than 200 students from universities in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia and the Philippines.
