USM LAUDS BAN ON VAPING IN CAMPUS
PENANG, 22 December 2015 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) today expressed its full support for a blanket ban on electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) or vape within its campus vicinity.
USM Vice-Chancellor Professor Dato’ Dr. Omar Osman said, prior to this, the ban on smoking had already been enforced much earlier at all its campuses including its Nibong Tebal, Bertam and Kubang Kerian campuses.
"We have a team of officers who conduct frequent monitoring within the campuses to ensure students are not caught smoking or vaping.
“Besides that, we have also made immediate announcements on banning vape and shisha in all the buildings as well as outside the buildings within the confines of the campuses to the campus community, staff and students, visitors and members of the public who use the USM facilities,” Omar stressed.
