USM VICE-CHANCELLOR: ACCORD PEOPLE THE RESPECT AND AVOID ‘SYUBHAH’ CONDUCTS
PENANG, September 2015 – The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Professor Dato’ Dr Omar Osman advised the latest batch of students enrolling into USM to always have respect for each other and to avoid from being involved in ‘syubhah’ (without any certainty) conducts which could ruin society and the country.
Speaking to the new group of students here recently, the Vice-Chancellor advised them to be fully focused in their studies, whether in or out of the lectures halls, to ensure success in the future and to avoid any aggressive actions in matters which are doubtful or uncertain.
“Everyone here needs to persevere in their studies, as this is the best opportunity to seek knowledge and to graduate with flying colours after spending time here for three to four years,” said Omar.
Omar also advised them to steer away from needless activities without any clear understanding and spreading news which are based on rumours and uncertainty.
“Everyone should try to ensure excellence in their achievements and to avoid from activities which lack integrity, including copying and other misconducts which would lead to inconveniences in others and not in accordance with the academic culture of a university,” he further said to the approximately 2,000 new students here.
