ENGINEERING CAMPUS IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE
NIBONG TEBAL, August 2015 – The Engineering Campus (KK) of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is expected to continue to cultivate a culture of excellence among its faculty, students and staff and make the University proud.
USM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Dr. Omar Osman said, KK which has seen many successful programmes being implemented is expected to continue to maintain the momentum and commitment of excellence.
He said KK’s contribution towards excellence can still be expanded further, from churning out quality research output to being an institution that is more relevant to the public.
"The engineering campus has a vast potential to shape the success especially in spurring knowledge in different fields as a whole," he said.
Omar was speaking at the Engineering Campus Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration & Appreciation Lunch here recently.
Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Academic and International Affairs, Professor Dato' Dr. Ahmad Shukri Mustapa Kamal; DVC Research and Innovation, Professor Dato' Dr. Muhamad Jantan and the principal officers of the University.
Meanwhile, the Director of Engineering Campus, Professor Dr. Zainal Arifin Mohd Ishak said, the special ceremony was made in honour of the KK’s community and as a token of appreciation and gratitude to the University for all the support given.
"This programme is in line with the theme I Love USM embraced by the University community.
"The concept applied in this programme is also quite unique, where the Academic staff and the Management & Professional Staff (P&P) all chipped in to contribute towards sponsoring the lunch," he said.
The Vice-Chancellor also handed out Hari Raya contributions to 30 children from the Tahfiz Madrasah Misbahul Falah, Pondok Lanai, Baling Kedah in the ceremony, which was attended by over a thousand of KK community.
