USM VC PAYS COURTESY CALL ON MALAYSIAN AMBASSADOR IN THAILAND - STRENGTHENS ACADEMIC COOPERATION
BANGKOK, THAILAND, 31 July 2015 - The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Professor Dato' Dr. Omar Osman today paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador of Malaysia to Thailand, Her Excellency Dato' Nazirah Hussain at the office of the Malaysian Embassy here.
“This visit has strengthened the relationship between both parties in the areas of academics and entrepreneurship; H.E. Dato' Nazirah has in fact agreed the initiatives taken by USM in equipping its administrative staff with the relevant skills and knowledge to be engaged in community outreach projects especially those involving the B40 group,” said Omar.
The Vice-Chancellor was in Thailand to attend the conference “A lead: Asean Future Higher Administration” (AFHA) jointly organised by the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT) and the Joint Training Committee of Higher Education Institutions in Malaysia (JALUMA) in collaboration with Chulalongkorn University and Kasetsart University.
“I am thankful that the Malaysian Ambassador to Thailand is very supportive of any collaborative efforts undertaken by USM with the Thai institutions of higher education,” added Omar.
He said USM plans to invite H.E. Dato’ Nazirah to Penang to share her knowledge and experiences with the USM community during the 2nd Ambassador Summit scheduled to be held in USM this September.
