USM APPRECIATES STAFF MEMBERS WHO WORK DURING FESTIVE HOLIDAYS
PENANG, 17 July 2015 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) appreciates and values its staff members who work during festive holidays such as Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.
Its Vice-Chancellor Professor Dato' Dr. Omar Osman said, the University truly appreciates the sacrifices of more than 500 doctors and nurses on duty at USM Hospital in Kubang Kerian every day including those on-call and more than 60 security personnel guarding the campuses while other university’s staff get to return to their hometowns and celebrate Aidilfitri with their families.
"We always appreciate them -- the police force, security forces, doctors and nurses in hospitals throughout the country and many others -- who sacrificed their time with their families for the sake of the society and country," said Omar.
The Vice-Chancellor distributed Raya cookies to security personnel on duty at the USM entrance security booths today. Also present was the Security Department Director Associate Professor Dr. P. Sundramoothy.
Sundramoorthy thanked the Vice-Chancellor for remembering the security personnel who were on duty during Raya day and the gesture of delivering cookies was especially appreciated.
“It reflects the university’s concern and gratitude towards them, and this would help keep up their spirits,” he said.
