VC INVITES ORPHANS TO TRY OUT CAMPUS LIFE
PERLIS, 20 February 2013 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Omar Osman, invited more than 40 orphans to visit USM and experience the life of undergraduates on campus.
He was speaking at the Closing Ceremony of the Volunteer Across Perlis Programme held from 17 to 18 February 2013 which was attended by the President of the Caring Foundation, Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah and the wife of Perlis Menteri Besar, Datin Seri Asiah Asmuni.
A total of 64 USM students who joined the Voluntary Corps participated in this programme which included a Motivation Programme with orphans held in Tun Siti Hasmah Budi Penyayang Complex, Kangar, and a get together session with 25 orphans at Mak Teh Home.
Also included in the programme was a gotong-royong that was held at Melati Lake Recreation Park, Kangar.
All the orphans then celebrated at the Rumpun Seni Insani Dinner which was attended by HRH Tuanku Chancellor, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Al-Marhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail and Raja Perempuan Perlis, Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Binti Al-Marhum Tengku Abdul Rahman. - Text: Rafizah Nor Md Zain / Photo: Mohd Fairus Md Isa / Translation: Yong Check Yoon
