HELP EXTENDED TO EASE BURDEN
BERTAM, 18 March 2013 – Concerned with the misfortune that befell a community member of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), the university donated a wheelchair for his use.
USM Registrar, Pn. Siti Zubaidah A. Hamid took some time off from her hectic schedule to visit the employee, Azhari Ali, a USM technician, who is still being treated at the Advanced Medical and Dental Institute (AMDI) after being involved in a car accident late last year.
Azhari lost both of his legs in a horrific accident and had to use a wheelchair to move around.
The USM Registrar also gave words of encouragement, asking him to be strong and give full attention to the treatment so as to recover quickly and fully.
She added that the wheelchair was donated through the generosity of the campus community and is seen as one of the humanitarian initiative that reflects the sensitivity of the campus community towards the improvement of the welfare of its citizens.
“Hopefully this contribution will lighten his burden thus providing him the impetus to try to lead a normal life,” she said during her visit which was accompanied by AMDI Director, Prof. Abd. Aziz Tajuddin.
Earlier, they also visited former USM chief librarian, Puan Sri Datin Masrah Abidin, who was undergoing orthopedic treatment in the same ward.
