BECOME A FIRST CLASS GLOBAL CITIZEN - VC

 PENANG, 18 May 2013 – The Annual Dinner of the School of Communication "Communication Gala Night" succeeded in bringing together 200 alumni and students of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) communication studies, including those who are following the Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) programme in Kuala Lumpur.

The event aims to celebrate with the third year students of the School of Communication.

The dinner, themed "The Golden Glam", was attended by USM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Omar Osman and his wife, Datin Noraizan Jamaluddin; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Network Division), Prof. Dato' Dr. See Ching Mey; Dean of the School of Communication, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jamilah Ahmad and lecturers from the school.

In his speech, Omar requested all students to explore cooperation opportunities with the ASEAN Community in the context of communications so that the School of Communication can be a catalyst for ASEAN community relations.

"This way, we can emerge from the conventional market and explore the larger market, in not only ASEAN but also the world community at large," added Omar.

Omar elaborated that USM aims to produce students who have the characteristics of "a first class global citizen" who are both knowledgeable and able to face any challenge or situation to remain relevant in the future.

The Vice-Chancellor also expressed hope that more Communication alumni can play an active role and support the school and the university in carrying out activities that benefit students.

The event was also graced by a variety of cultural performances by the students and staff which includes dance performances, singing, and also sketches, interspersed with the presentation of awards and certificates to the students as well as lucky draws.
