YONG BANG MING DOES USM PROUD IN LEADERSHIP SYMPOSIUM
PENANG, 15 July 2013 - The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Dr. Omar Osman congratulated Yong Bang Ming, a final year student of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, for winning the Axiata Leadership Award.
Yong was selected as the winner among 250 participants for the Entrepreneurship and Innovation category at the Malaysian Student Leadership Symposium 2013 held in Kuala Lumpur recently.
"Congratulations to Yong, who won one of the 10 contested categories and managed to outperform other Malaysian students from more than 10 countries, including the United Kingdom, France and India," said Omar during a special press conference here today.
Yong, who is very active in societies both within and outside the campus, said that his participation in the symposium gave his valuable experience and he was thrilled to be selected as one of the winners.
He also won many design competitions including the British Invention Show last year with his invention ‘The Smart Cervix Kit’ which garnered three gold medals and two special awards.
"As a reward, I was given a free pass to undergo training at the Axiata University Leadership Development Programme for 16 days in August," said Yong, who has also being offered a job at Gamuda Berhad.
