PENANG, 1 Aug 2013 - True to the Ramadan spirit, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) through the Centre for DrugResearch (CDR) handed out donations to the patients in the Pediatric, Oncology and Gynaecology wads at Penang General Hospital (PGH) here today.

The donations were presented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Network), Professor Dato'See Ching Mey together with the wife of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Datin Dr. Aishah Knight Abd. Shatar, who is also a lecturer at the USM Advanced Medical and Dental Institute.

Besides food and duit raya, the patients were also entertained by the USM staff through the rendition of songs likeBelaian Jiwa and Rasa Sayang, led by the Deputy Dean (Student Affairs and Networking), School of Arts, Associate Professor Dr. Razif Mohd.

"Sephia was diagnosed with brain cancer two weeks ago and she has undergone a few surgeries after being admitted to PGH," said the mother to 18 months-old Nur Sephia Alisya.

According to the project leader, who is also a Science Officer in CDR, Nur Sabrina Mohd Yusof, this is the secondproject carried out by CDR and it received support and donations from the USM Industry and Community Network Division as well as the USM staff.
