PENANG, 8 September 2013 - Heavy rain did not stop about 200 USM students from exploring the valley and trails around Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Taman Rekreasi (Recreational Park) which is located behind the students’ hostel complex – Desasiswa Restu-Saujana-Tekun.

Together with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Omar Osman were Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Development), Professor Dr. Adnan Hussein; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) Professor Dr. Muhamad Jantan and his wife; Ombudsman Professor Dato’ Seri Dr. Md. Salleh Yaapar and several deans and senior university officials. It rained on the way and they took a break before returning when the rain ceased to explore without feeling tired or discouraged.

They worked together in good team spirit and enjoyed a close-up view of the trees, the durian orchard, quiet rush of a stream and lush green foliage of the Taman Rekreasi, while helping each other out at muddy and slippery places, all happy and together pledged to return to this park in the future to re-engage in activities here.

They happily shared banana leaves and umbrellas to shelter from the rain.

At the same time, the Vice-Chancellor and the university leaders patiently entertained requests from the students to pose with them for photographs in a very relaxed and family-like manner, an extraordinary transformation of thoughts that break any barriers that prevent the existence of a close relationship.

The young students are so motivated to work together to continue the legacy of a Tower of Knowledge and give meaning to the development and independence of the country.

Congratulations to all these young students and also congratulations to the leaders who demonstrated an exemplary leadership of the meaning of a large family, united with a common strength and thoughts that augurs well for the country’s sovereignty.
