PENANG, 27 Sept 2013 – A lecturer from the School of Distance Education (SDE), Dr. Chuah Lee Sang was selected as the winner of the L’Oreal Malaysia ‘For Women in Science’ Fellowship for 2013.

The result was announced in a statement issued by L’ Oreal Malaysia Corporate Communications Manager, Jean Loh. The academician was selected basing on her excellence in the field of education and research.

Chuah Lee Sang, 32, a Physics lecturer at SDE was one of three recipients of successful candidates who topped the list of 68 applicants and will receive scholarships worth RM20,000 for research funding.

L’ Oreal Malaysia ‘For Women in Science’ Fellowship was aimed to provide support and encouragement for women researchers to remain competitive and to contribute their expertise in the development of important research for the future of the country.

Chuah, when contacted, said that she was overwhelmed with the success and described it as a motivation and will certainly inspire her to continue to contribute to the development of education in this country.

“This is my best achievement after becoming a lecturer in the university,” said Chuah who started work at SDE on 15 December 2009. She is also an alumnus from the School of Physics (Bachelor and Doctor of Philosophy).

The scholarship award ceremony will be held at Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur in November. - Translation: Yong Check Yoon
