CSIRF 2013 PLATFORM FOR STUDENTS TO CHOOSE THEIR CAREER
PENANG, 27 Sept 2013 - The recently organised special programme Computer Science Intern and Recruitment Fair 2013 (CSIRF 2013) was deemed as the best platform for students to choose a career and get a place for industrial training.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Industry and Community Network (BJIM), Professor Dato’ Dr. See Ching Mey said CSIRF organised by the School of Computer Sciences (SoCS) was indeed a means for the University to strengthen linkages with the industry.
She said that CSIRF can provide a win-win situation for both parties where the industry can advertise and find suitable candidates for vacancies in their organizations while students are able to choose a career that suits their skills.
“The programme also provides an excellent opportunity for USM students to prove their abilities and demonstrate the skills they had acquired during their studies at the university.
“It is not just a venue for final year students to explore job opportunities but CSIRF also serves as a platform for the SoCS final year students to get a place for their industry placement,” she said.
She said this in her speech when launching the programme at the Dewan Utama Pelajar here recently. Also present was the Dean of SoCS, Professor Dr. Ahamad Tajudin Khader.
More than 10 companies took part in the one-day programme, including Continental Automotive Components Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., National Instruments Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Hilti Asia Services Sdn. Bhd., and Alterra Corporation (M) Sdn. Bhd.
Also included in the programme were an exhibition of research posters by SoCS students, special interviews, consultation by companies, and exhibitions. - Translation: Yong Check Yoon/Photos: Mohd Fairus Md Isa
