PENANG, 24 September 2013 - The success of three pairs of identical twins drew much attention during the four-day Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) 48th Convocation which started on 19 September. They are Chan Yeow Ping and Chan Yeow Pang; Koong Gia Ing and Koong Gia Yoke; together with Hundia Yin and Jammee Yin.

Yeow Pang who was born a minute earlier than Yeow Ping said, they both have the same interests such as their favourite colour, food, and sports (which is badminton). They graduated in Electronic Engineering after being inspired by their cousin who is successful in the same field.

“My cousin previously was a USM student and graduated in the same field as ours. We are motivated by his success and wished that we would be like him one day,” said Yeow Pang after the fifth session of convocation ceremony which witnessed a total of more than 800 graduates receiving their scrolls.

“Engineering is a very complicated and difficult subject but can be interesting at the same time because we did not stop motivating and competing with each other,” said Yeow Ping.

According to Gia Ing, she and her sister have been equally determined to study up to tertiary level since they were kids.

She said that, since they are not from a wealthy family, they understand that the only way to change their life for a better one is through education.

“I am happy that I have finally completed my study, especially when my twin is graduating together with me,” she said.

Gia Ing and her twin sister graduated with a first class Bachelor of Electrical Engineering honours degree.

Similarly, another pair of twins, Hundia and Jammee Yin complemented each other since they were studying in the same course, Chemical Sciences.
