PENANG, 31 October 2013 - Universiti Sains Malaysia, as in its normal practice, since 2009/2010 admissions, provides APEX Book Voucher for Pure Science and Pure Arts students. This year, for the first time, the management of giving vouchers is carried out by the Academic Management Division (BPA) with the cooperation of Koperasi USM Berhad (KUB).

Speaking at the presentation of the vouchers, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Professor Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Shukri Mustapa Kamal said that this voucher is one way of encouraging and attracting more students to these fields.

The voucher is given to all new students who enrolled in the 2013/2014 academic session in the said fields, as well as students in year two and three who maintained a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.00 and above.

“The students are recommended to use the facilities provided best possible and appreciate them. In addition, students are also expected to maintain excellence in their academic performance,” said Ahmad Shukri.

He also said that there was an increase in the number of accepted students who enrolled in the fields mentioned this year.

Starting today, a total of 478 first-year students for the courses mentioned who were admitted through the Prime Channel and 397 students in year two and three can claim the vouchers at USM Kompleks Cahaya Siswa. Each student will receive a voucher worth RM300.00 and it must be spent at KUB.

According to the Assistant General Manager of KUB, Aida Rosimi Mat Yusof, who represented the KUB Director, KUB is ready to provide the best services to ensure that students’ academic needs and requirements are met.
