VICE-CHANCELLOR SENDS DEEPAVALI GREETINGS
The Vice-Chancellor Professor Dato' Dr. Omar Osman and his wife Datin Noraizan Jamaludin sent their Deepavali greetings to the campus community, friends, alumni and all who celebrate this festival in the country and wherever they may be.
"Like any other festivals, Deepavali should be celebrated with strong bonds of friendship and thanksgiving while being sensitive to the plight of the less fortunate, especially those suffering from natural calamities, hunger, poverty, famine and wars," said the Vice-Chancellor.
"Deepavali is a time for us to celebrate together with our loved ones, with other communities in our very unique multi-cultural society, and may the lights be a harbinger of joy, peace and prosperity but practice moderation in anything we do, drive carefully on the road and remember the less fortunate community including the lonely senior citizens without families," said Omar.
He added that we Malaysians are fortunate to live in this country where peace and harmony prevailed, where a caring society that shares each other’s burdens and respect each other’s diversity exists, where unity and goodwill, mutual tolerance and mutual understanding is being practiced.
He called for everyone to take this opportunity to further strengthen the existing relationship by visiting the homes of relatives and friends, celebrating this auspicious day together with them to enhance a better understanding of the festival, and at the same time foster better relations among all Malaysians.
"I hope this Deepavali will be another sweet moment as we come together to celebrate and will further inspire us in our pursuit of excellence for the university and the country," said Omar.
