COURTESY VISIT BY TWO INDONESIAN UNIVERSITIES
PENANG, 25 November 2013 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Dr. Omar Osman received a courtesy call by the Rector of Universitas Bung Hatta, West Sumatra, Professor Dr. Niki Lukviarman and the Dean and Vice Dean I, Faculty of Economics Universitas Andalas Padang, Prof. Tafdil Husni and Dr. Harif Amali Rivai today to discuss future cooperation in the field of research between the three universities.
Niki said that USM is highly specialised in the field of marine research which can be used and applied in both countries. He also invited 12 universities to work together to carry out marine research of the Indian Ocean and one of the universities is USM.
Tafdil who is also a USM alumnus who graduated in 2006 has held discussions with representatives from USM School of Management (SoM) to further strengthen ties between the two universities as well as planning for staff and student exchange programmes.
Omar welcomed the proposal and considered that this cooperation should be further strengthened for the benefit of the three universities.
Present in the meeting were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Network), Professor Dato’ Dr. See Ching Mey; and Director of Community Network, Syed Yusof Syed Kechik.
