PENANG, 14 December 2013 - It was a memorable evening for the 20 staff and former residents of Desasiswa Permai and their families from all over the country as they gathered at Bumbledee in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) for their reunion.

“Some of them were from Trengganu, Selangor, Johor, and Perak,” said project director Mohamad Tarmizi Rahim.

According to him, there could have been more participants but they were caught in a traffic jam at Bertam.

He added that the reunion was not an annual event as the previous one was held in Perak in 2009 and this was the first time that the reunion was hosted in USM.

The participants started to arrive on 13 December with some staying at Rumah Tetamu while others in accommodations outside the campus.

“A telematch has been planned for them on 15 December before their departure for home in the evening,” Tarmizi said.

The three-hour reunion dinner had lucky draws as the highlight of the evening before it drew to a close around midnight. - Text & Photo: Yong Check Yoon
