KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25. 2013 - Two of the three Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) finalists who were nominated for three separate categories emerged champions in Ikon Varsiti BH which took place here today. Both champions glorified the name of USM were from group categories respectively; USM Engineers being selected through research projects and innovation while NRIC group was nominated for sub categories seminar / conference.

Another singles finalist was from Agro Technology Innovation category, Mohamad Danial Shafiq who also managed to take home the consolation prize which was presented by the Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin at The Royal Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

NRIC and USM Engineers respectively took home the Ikon Varsiti trophy, RM5,000.00 cash and certificates of appreciation.

Ikon Varsiti BH is the inaugural competition organized by the Berita Harian via insertions of special education section for students of institutions of higher learning, the Varsity in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education.

In the meantime, a total of 147 entries competed for 14 awards including Entrepreneurship Innovation & Creativity, Leadership, Sports, Fashion Creativity, Creative Design, and Social Service Project.
