VC RECEIVES COURTESY CALL FROM ISTANBUL UNIVERSITY’S PROFESSORS
PENANG, 10 April 2014 - Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Professor Dato' Dr. Omar Osman received a courtesy call from two professors from Istanbul University, Turkey in his office here today.
Professor Dr. Erdal Tekarslan, Dean of the School of Business and Professor Dr. Recep Pekdemir, Professor of Accounting from the same school met the Vice-Chancellor for nearly half an hour.
Among the matters discussed was to explore the opportunities of bilateral cooperation between the two universities in the field of business studies, especially in terms of exchange of faculty and students, sharing of expertise and collaboration in academic and research programmes.
Also present from USM were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs) Professor Dato' Dr. Ahmad Shukri Mustapa Kamal, Dean of the Graduate School of Business (GSB) Associate Professor Dr. Sofri Yahya, and Deputy Dean (Student Affairs and Networking) Tuan Haji Noor Nasir Kader Ali.
The delegation of Istanbul University also invited the Vice-Chancellor as a guest of honour to visit their university during their university’s convocation ceremony. Istanbul University was founded in 1453 and until now has five campuses.
The visit concluded with the exchange of souvenirs and a photo session by both parties.
