PENANG, 29 April 2014 - Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Professor Dato' Dr. Omar Osman today received a courtesy call from Professor Dr. Jean-Pierre Chevallet from the Laboratoire d'Informatique de Grenoble (LIG), Grenoble, France at his office here.

During the meeting, Omar and Chevallet who was representing the University of Grenoble’s Vice-Chancellor, discussed the opportunities to cooperate in the field of computer science research related to natural language processing and image indexing between LIG and the School of Computer Sciences (SoCS) USM.

Chevallet’s visit to USM was funded by the French Embassy, and during his one week stay in Penang, he will hold a series of discussions with researchers and lecturers from the School of Computer Sciences.

Also present was Professor Dr. Abdullah Zawawi Hj. Talib from SoCS who accompanied Chevallet to the Vice-Chancellor’s Office.
