PENANG, 8 July 2014 - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) today received an official visit by INTI International University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dato’ Dr. Rahmah Mohamed and several senior officers, hence strengthening the ties between both universities.

According to USM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Omar Osman, from the meeting, the two sides agreed to strengthen existing relationships through internationalisation relationship and participate in the Laureate International University which comprises tertiary education institutions across more than 30 countries and academic relationships among more than 80 universities in its network.

In the simple yet meaningful meeting, besides the Vice-Chancellor, USM was also represented by its Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) Professor Dato’ Dr. Muhamad Jantan; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs) Professor Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Shukri Mustapa Kamal; Director of Centre for Business Development, Entrepreneurship & Risk Management (CBER), Datin Dr. Joriah Muhammad and Head of Operations, Sains@USM Office, Izam Fairus Kamaruddin.

Omar also welcomed the appointment of the new Vice-Chancellor of INTI International University, Professor Dato' Dr. Rahmah Mohamed, who began her duties on 1st of May and is confident that Rahmah can steer the private university towards achieving excellence in the future. Rahmah was previously the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

Also present from INTI International University were Inti International University & Colleges Chief Operating Officer, Rohit Sharma; Inti International College Penang Chief Executive, Dr. Michael Yap Sau Moi and Inti International College Penang Administrative Manager, Jeremy Toh.

Both parties also agreed to forge a smart partnership in the use of services and facilities available at the USM Campus particularly USM Research Campus at Sains@USM. INTI has a branch near the USM Research Campus Sains@USM.
