GSB, USM AND B. BRAUN CELEBRATE SECOND COHORT GRADUATION OF PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES IN APPLIED OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT

USM PENANG, 23 July 2026 – The Graduate School of Business (GSB), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), through its Centre for Executive Education and Development (CEED), celebrated the successful graduation of the second cohort of participants from its professional development programmes in collaboration with B. Braun Medical Industries Sdn. Bhd.

A total of 39 employees successfully completed the programmes, comprising 19 graduates from the Professional Advanced Certificate in Applied Operations and Management and 20 graduates from the Professional Certificate in Applied Operations and Management.

The graduation ceremony held on the 30 June 2026, marked another significant milestone in the strategic industry-academia partnership between GSB, USM and B. Braun, reflecting the shared commitment of both institutions towards strengthening workforce capabilities through industry-relevant education, professional development, and lifelong learning opportunities.
The event was attended by senior representatives from both organisations. Representing GSB, USM were the Dean, Associate Professor Dr. Fathyah Hashim; Deputy

Dean (Academic, Career and International), Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Yulita Hanum Iskandar; Deputy Dean (Research, Innovation and Industry & Community Engagement), Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Teoh Ai Ping; Deputy Registrar, Habibah Mohamad; and CEED Programme Manager, Dr. Karpal Singh Dara Singh.

Braun Medical Industries Sdn. Bhd. was represented by the General Manager of Human Resources, Balasubramanian Thevarayan; Director of Medical Production, Mohammad Syukur Md. Noh; President of the BMI Workers’ Union, Zarina Ramlee; Secretary of the BMI Workers’ Union, Zulhasri Zakaria together with heads of departments from B. Braun.

In her address, Fathyah highlighted that the graduation of the second cohort reflects the continued success, relevance, and impact of the collaboration between USM and B. Braun in developing a skilled and future-ready workforce.

She emphasised that the achievement of the graduates represents not only their personal dedication and commitment but also the collective efforts of both institutions in promoting continuous learning and professional growth.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Syukur reaffirmed B. Braun’s commitment towards employee development, emphasising that skills enhancement remains a strategic priority for the organisation.

He highlighted that programmes such as these provide employees with opportunities to strengthen their competencies, expand their knowledge, and prepare themselves for evolving challenges in the healthcare, manufacturing, and technology sectors.

The professional programmes offered through the collaboration between GSB, USM and B. Braun are designed to equip employees with essential operational and management competencies while enabling them to apply their learning directly within the workplace.

The successful completion of the second cohort demonstrates the effectiveness of industry-academia collaboration in developing capable professionals who can contribute towards organisational excellence and sustainable growth.
