KUALA LUMPUR, 3 July 2026 – As neurological conditions become more visible in modern healthcare, the need for specialists who understand the relationship between the brain, behaviour, emotions and cognition has become increasingly critical.

Against this backdrop, the Doctor of Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology) at Universiti Sains Malaysia Kuala Lumpur (USM@KL) drew strong interest from healthcare professionals and prospective doctoral candidates during the USM@KL Open Day.

The programme was showcased as one of USM@KL’s specialised doctoral offerings, giving visitors the opportunity to engage directly with academic experts and explore advanced training in neuropsychological assessment, rehabilitation and research.

Designed for experienced practitioners seeking to expand their expertise, the programme combines advanced knowledge in psychology, neuroscience and clinical practice. It prepares graduates to assess and manage individuals affected by neurological conditions, while contributing to multidisciplinary healthcare teams through evidence-based practice and research.

Students are trained to evaluate cognitive functioning, support rehabilitation and understand how neurological processes influence thoughts, emotions and behaviour. This makes the programme highly relevant in today’s healthcare environment, where brain-related conditions require both scientific precision and compassionate care.

According to Dr. Mohamed Faiz Mohamed Mustafar, Programme Coordinator for the Doctor of Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology), USM@KL, the Open Day provided aspiring psychologists with the opportunity to discover the exciting field of clinical neuropsychology.

He said the programme combines the science of the brain with clinical psychology to better understand how neurological processes shape human experience. Through evidence-based assessment, intervention and rehabilitation, the programme prepares future clinical neuropsychologists to deliver scientifically informed and compassionate care.

Throughout the Open Day, visitors also received personalised academic consultations and admissions guidance, allowing them to explore the programme’s curriculum, research opportunities and specialised clinical training.
