KUALA LUMPUR, 3 July 2026 – The human brain remains one of the most powerful and complex frontiers of modern science. From memory and learning to behaviour, perception and decision-making, understanding how the mind works has become increasingly important in healthcare, education, technology and human development.

Reflecting this growing relevance, the Master of Cognitive Neurosciences (MCN) at Universiti Sains Malaysia Kuala Lumpur (USM@KL) attracted the attention of prospective students during the USM@KL Open Day, offering visitors a closer look at a field that connects scientific discovery with real-world human impact.

The programme was among the postgraduate offerings featured at the Open Day, where visitors engaged with academic representatives to understand the interdisciplinary nature of cognitive neuroscience and its applications in research, clinical practice, education and emerging technologies.

Designed to bridge neuroscience, psychology and cognitive science, the programme equips students with a comprehensive understanding of brain function, cognition, behaviour and neurological processes. Students are also exposed to research methodologies and analytical approaches that enable them to investigate complex questions related to learning, memory, perception, decision-making and human behaviour.

According to Dr. Aini Ismafairus Abd Hamid, Programme Coordinator for the Master of Cognitive Neurosciences, USM@KL, the programme aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to understand the brain, mind and behaviour from an interdisciplinary perspective.

She said that through structured coursework complemented by research exposure, students are prepared to apply neuroscientific knowledge across diverse professional settings and contribute meaningfully to healthcare, education, technology and society.

Throughout the Open Day, visitors received personalised academic consultations and admissions guidance while exploring the programme’s research opportunities, multidisciplinary learning environment and potential career pathways.

Graduates of the programme are well positioned to pursue careers in neuroscience research, healthcare, academia, cognitive science, rehabilitation, education, biotechnology and other fields that require expertise in understanding brain function and human cognition.

Through the Master of Cognitive Neurosciences, USM@KL continues to prepare graduates who can explore the science of the mind, contribute to future discoveries and support human well-being through deeper understanding of the brain.
