PENANG, 16 June 2026 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has made history as the first institution worldwide to lead the Keysight Semiconductor Student Certification Program, marking a significant milestone in industry-academia collaboration.

Recognised as a leading university in semiconductor research and development, USM was selected by Keysight Technologies to spearhead this pioneering ‘Industry on Campus’ initiative.

A total of 25 students participated in the inaugural program, with outstanding performers awarded the prestigious Keysight Semiconductor Certification.

This certification validates proficiency in semiconductor device analysis, test system operation, and photonics measurement techniques, utilising advanced electronic design automation (EDA) software and test and measurement instruments.

The initiative is led by the Director of the Industry Network Office under USM’s Division of Industry and Community Network (BJIM), Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Wan Maryam Wan Ahmad Kamil, supported by academic staff from the School of Physics and the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

This achievement further strengthens USM’s position as a premier public research university, driving industry-aligned education and contributing to the sustainable growth of Malaysia’s electrical and electronics (E&E) ecosystem.
