SoLLaT USM OFFERS FREE BASIC ARABIC CLASS TO COMMUNITY, PART OF LIFELONG LEARNING INITIATIVE

USM PENANG, 12 June 2026 – The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) School of Languages, Literacies and Translation (SoLLaT) is currently organising a Basic Arabic Communication Course for the community of Seberang Perai Tengah (‘Kursus Komunikasi Asas Bahasa Arab untuk Komuniti Seberang Perai Tengah’).
It is part of the continuing efforts by SoLLaT in strengthening its Lifelong Learning initiatives and community engagement activities.

The programme which has started in early June this year is co-organised by Surau Evoke Pauh Jaya and Muslimat Surau Taman Pauh Jaya.
The course is conducted by Ilham Ebau, a senior Arabic language instructor from the SoLLaT Foreign Language Section and is held at Surau Evoke Pauh Jaya.

The programme will run for 14 weeks, with two classes to be held per week. It has thus received a very positive response from the local community (37 participants, age ranging from 37-82 years old).

Participants who have successfully completed the programme will be awarded certificates.
The programme is held free of charge to the community, with the support of State Assemblyman YB Izhar Shah Datuk Arif Shah and the Chairperson of Surau Evoke Pauh Jaya, Mohd Nizal Ismail.
