USM PENANG, 10 April 2026 – A total of 150 participants comprising staff and students of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) brought vibrant energy to the campus by joining the KSSUSM Fun Run 2026, organised by the USM Staff Sports Club (KSSUSM) at the USM Padang Kawad, this morning.

The programme kicked off with a zumba session before the run was flagged off by USM Registrar and KSSUSM Advisor, Mohd Azizudin Mohd Shariff, together with members of the university’s management team.

Also present were USM Legal Advisor, Dr. Khairul Anuar Che Azmi; USM Bursar, Dr. Rafizal Abd Rahim; and Director of USM Sports and Recreation Centre and also Advisor to the Staff Sports Club, Professor Dr. Hairul Anuar Hashim.

KSSUSM President, Professor Dr. Irfan Naufal Umar, noted that the KSSUSM Fun Run 2026 was the first of its kind since the club’s establishment.

With the motto ‘Joyful Steps, Healthy Living towards Wellness with KSSUSM,’ he said the run was aimed at fostering a healthy lifestyle and overall well-being among the university community.

“It is also seen as a step towards strengthening harmony and camaraderie among USM members, while promoting a culture of healthy living,” he added.

KSSUSM expressed its appreciation to USM’s top management, particularly the Registrar, for their continuous support in staff welfare through sports activities.

Acknowledgement was also extended to the organising committee, KSSUSM convenors, USM Security Department personnel, and the USM Sejahtera Centre for their cooperation and commitment in ensuring the smooth running of the programme.
