USM INTERACTIVE DASHBOARD SYSTEM BOOSTS MINDEF MADANI ECONOMY PROJECTS MONITORING

SISTEM DASHBOARD INTERAKTIF USM PERKASA PEMANTAUAN PROJEK EKONOMI MADANI KEMENTERIAN PERTAHANAN 1

KLUANG, JOHOR, 16 May 2026 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) continues to demonstrate its expertise in information and communication technology through the development of the MADANI Economy Programme Dashboard System for the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).

This digital platform represents the strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Defence Malaysia (MINDEF) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) in driving the nation’s economic development agenda.

The innovative system was a key highlight during the Launch Ceremony of the MADANI Economy Programme by MINDEF, held at the 5 RAMD Camp here.

The system’s capabilities gained significant attention when USM researchers demonstrated its dashboard functions and engaged directly with the Minister of Defence, YB Dato’ Seri Haji Mohamed Khaled Nordin. He expressed confidence in its potential to enhance data management and strengthen oversight of MADANI Economy Projects.

Digital Monitoring Transformation

This project reflects the effectiveness of cross-ministerial collaboration, where academic and research expertise under MOHE is synergised with MINDEF’s strategic needs.

The interactive dashboard was developed by researchers from USM’s School of Computer Sciences (PPSKOMP) and School of Communication (PPK) as a centralised platform to monitor the implementation of MADANI Economy projects across military camps nationwide.

Through real-time data integration, the system enables comprehensive monitoring of various projects, including stingless bee honey, Bentong ginger, vegetable fertigation, and oyster mushroom cultivation.

With dynamic data visualisation, MINDEF management can now evaluate production performance, project progress status, and reports from each camp quickly and systematically, thereby facilitating more effective strategic decision-making.

The successful development of this system is the result of the expertise and dedication of USM researchers, Ts. Dr. Noor Farizah Ibrahim, Ts. Dr. Mohd Heikal Husin, and Dr. Noratikah Nordin.

The collaboration was further strengthened through strategic support from Nurazmin Afza Nasaruddin and Hakimi Arshat of USM’s Industry and Community Network Division (BJIM).

The transformation from manual monitoring methods to an interactive dashboard ensures that every allocation and effort under the MADANI Economy Programme can be tracked more transparently, efficiently, and with greater impact.

This initiative not only enhances national data management but also elevates USM’s reputation as a leader in digital innovation at the national level.
