USM PPPJJ ORGANISES IHYA’ RAMADAN PROGRAMME, DONATES BASIC FOOD TO SENIOR CITIZENS
USM PENANG, 6 March 2026 – The School of Distance Education (PPPJJ), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), continued its commitment to community welfare by organising the Ihya’ Ramadan Programme, which included the donation of basic food supplies to residents of the Ayer Hitam Senior Citizens Activity Centre recently.
The programme, organised by the PPPJJ Ihya’ Ramadan Committee, is one of several initiatives aimed at enlivening the spirit of Ramadan through religious, charitable, and community activities involving both university community and the local community.
Chairman of the PPPJJ Ihya’ Ramadan Committee, Associate Professor Dr. Shaik Abdullah Hassan Mydin, expressed hope that the contribution would help support the welfare of the residents at the Ayer Hitam Senior Citizens Activity Centre.
“The donation of basic food supplies is intended to ease the burden of senior citizens and bring joy to them as they welcome this blessed month,” he said.
“In addition to donations for senior citizens, the PPPJJ Ihya’ Ramadan Committee has also planned and implemented various other activities throughout Ramadan, including religious talks, charity collections, and community engagement programmes involving staff and local residents,” he added.
Meanwhile, Programme Secretary, Nor Ashikin Zainol Abidin expressed hope that such initiatives would continue in the future to strengthen ties between the university and the local community, while fostering values of compassion, volunteerism, and social responsibility among PPPJJ community.
