USM PENANG, 27 February 2026 – As Muslims gather for ‘ibadah’ to gain rewards in the blessed month of Ramadan, the Islamic Centre (Pusat Islam) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has initiated the Ramadan One Stop Centre, preparing daily ‘iftar’ meals for 1,500 people who will come to break their fast.

The Main Committee of USM Ramadan Activities 1447H/2026 is welcoming contributions from all parties to ensure that meal preparations at Masjid Al-Malik Khalid, USM proceed smoothly.

Among the raw materials needed are rice, granulated/coarse sugar, coconut milk, cooking oil, onions, garlic, mixed spices, soy sauce, evaporated milk, tomato soup, tomato puree, cordial drinks, and other suitable items.

According to the Head of the USM Ramadan Activities Committee 1447H/2026, Ustaz Iswandi Abdul Mokmin, every contribution received will be fully utilised for the preparation of iftar for students, staff, and members of the surrounding community who gather at the masjid.

“Ramadan is the month of giving. Regardless of the amount, each contribution is meaningful for those breaking fast at the masjid. We hope all parties will take part in making this charitable effort a success,” he said.

Iswandi added that to facilitate contributions, raw materials can be sent to the covered tent in front of the Masjid Al-Malik Khalid car park, while cash donations may be deposited into the official ‘Tabung Aktiviti Ramadan USM’ account.

“This initiative is not only to encourage more charitable giving, but also to revive the spirit of togetherness within the campus community, in line with the sayings of Rasulullah S.A.W., that charity does not reduce one’s wealth, but purifies both the soul and wealth,” he explained.

Members of the public who wish to contribute or obtain further information may contact the officially appointed committee members.

Ramadan comes only once a year. It is the time to share, to be charitable, and to earn multiple divine rewards throughout this blessed month.
