UTAS–USM 2026 MOBILITY PROGRAMME: USM WELCOMES 39 PARTICIPANTS

PENANG, 13 January 2026 – 36 students from the University of Tasmania (UTAS), Australia along with three staff members arrived as participants of the University Global Opportunity (UniGo) UTAS–USM 2026 mobility programme, held at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) from 10 January until 4 February.


UniGo UTAS is an exchange and international mobility programme providing participating students with global exposure via short-term experiential learning abroad.
For UniGO, the programme was led by Professor Dr Ooi Can Seng together with Professor Dr Rebecca Tyler, while in USM it was under Dr. Zarina Md Nor, who served as project coordinator.


It was the third time that UniGo was held at USM, with the involvement of students supervised by Associate Professor Dr. Fadzilah Amzah from the USM School of Educational Studies (PPIP).
The programme as held with the aim of strengthening academic collaboration, enhancing student experience and providing a wider exposure beyond the walls of lecture halls.


Various programmes had been lined up for the UniGo delegation, including an introductory session on USM by the Head of Leadership Cluster, Professor Dato’ Dr. Aldrin Abdullah; USM–UTAS Student Hackathon; Bahasa Melayu classes by USM student facilitators as well as a ‘cultural’ trip to the Kampung Melayu Night Market.
