COURTESY VISIT BY THE HIGH COMMISSIONER OF PAKISTAN TO MALAYSIA STRENGTHENS ACADEMIC AND RESEARCH COLLABORATION
USM PENANG, 19 January 2026 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) was honoured to welcome the High Commissioner of Pakistan to Malaysia, His Excellency Mr. Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, on a courtesy visit last Friday, underscoring the shared commitment to advancing academic and research collaboration.

The USM delegation welcoming His Excellency was led by Professor Dato’ Gs. Dr. Narimah Samat, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic and International, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, together with Professor Dr. Lee Keat Teong, Director of the Academic & International Division and International Office@USM.

During the meeting, Narimah provided an overview of USM’s academic profile, research strengths, and ongoing international partnerships.
His Excellency expressed his appreciation for the strong academic ties between Pakistani institutions and USM, noting his delight at the active involvement of Pakistani staff and students within the university community.

He emphasised his hope that the partnership will continue to grow, particularly in the areas of academic cooperation and research collaboration.

The programme also featured an engagement session with Pakistani academic staff, postdoctoral fellows, and students currently at USM, offering a platform for meaningful dialogue and mutual exchange.


USM reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing international partnerships and looks forward to expanding collaborative initiatives with Pakistani institutions, further enhancing the university’s global profile and strengthening its role as a hub for academic excellence.
